Marty A. Majors, 63, died Wednesday (March 31, 2010) at
Halstead Health and Rehabilitation in Halstead.
She was born on Oct. 30, 1946, in Newton to Lawrence and
Margaret (Wemmer) Gawthrop.
She married Richard Majors, and he preceded her in death.
Marty attended First Baptist Church in Newton. She was a 1964
graduate of Newton High School and attended cosmetology school. She became a
hairdresser with the former Carrousel Salon prior to opening her own salon.
Marty also worked with Riblet Trailer Supply as a warehouse
manager and Mennonite Press as a printing assistant.
Marty had a love of all animals. She especially enjoyed her
dogs, cats and horses. She also enjoyed gardening and crafts. She greatly
looked forward to spending time with her loving family and many friends.
She is survived by a son, Tim and Davina Haag of McPherson;
brother, Larry and Madeline Gawthrop of Pampa, Texas; four grandchildren;
numerous cousins; special friends and caregivers Jennifer Hammett of Newton;
Mel Skov of Newton; and numerous other caring friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with chaplain Peter Hartman of Hospice Care of Kansas
officiating.
