Obituary
Joy A. (Levens) Schrock, 94, of Newton died Sunday (April
18, 2010) at Asbury Park in Newton.
She was born on May 21, 1915, in Barber County to Scott E.
and Pearl S. Gibson Levens.
She worked in the adjutant general office in Washington,
D.C., and formerly lived in Pratt.
She also was employed at the Pratt County Army Air Field and
the Farmers Home Administration in Pratt. She loved gardening and made most of
her own clothes. She was a member of the National Association of Retired
Federal Employees.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Pratt and
attended Sedgwick Christian Church after moving to Newton in 1993.
On June 12, 1988, she married Maurice E. Schrock in Houston.
He preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1992.
Survivors include a stepson, Dennis Schrock of Spring,
Texas; a stepdaughter, Doris Fox of Houston; a sister, Gail A. Hamm of Newton;
a niece, Rowena Sonmore of Newton; four step-grandchildren; and six
step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Ayres-Calbeck
Mortuary in Pratt.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Greenlawn
Cemetery in Pratt with the Rev. Kim Beckwith officiating.
