John Joseph Ryan
John Joseph Ryan, 70, of Lakeview, Ark., formerly of Newton
and Sedgwick, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died
Saturday (Jan. 30, 2010).
He was known to many as Prairie Dog, Indian Guide, the Great
White Hunter and Red Rhino.
He retired from Cox Machine Inc. in Wichita after 42 years.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley of the home;
his children Bradley (Cherie) Ryan, Christa (Doug) Schwabe, and Darren Ryan;
granddaughter Sarah Ryan; great-granddaughter Alexis Grace; grandsons, Jacob
Ryan, Ryan Schwabe and Joshua Schwabe of Newton; and sister Yvonne (Herb) Coin
of Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. (Red) and
Orlena Ryan; his brother, Max F. Ryan; and nephew Timothy A. Ryan.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at
St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chapman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Care of
Kansas in Newton or The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
