Alice R. Miller
Alice R. Miller, 79, of Newton, died Saturday (Jan. 2, 2010)
at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita.
She was born on May 31, 1930, in Newton, the daughter of
Jesse and Alice Friday Sills. A lifelong resident of Newton, Alice attended
Newton schools. After high school, she worked at Santa Fe Laundry.
Alice married Bobby Ray Miller on June 15, 1948, in Newton.
He died on Oct. 25, 1981.
She had been a waitress at Leonida's. Alice retired in 1995
from working in the bakery at the North Dillons store in Newton.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Miller of Newton and Gary
Miller of Walton; three daughters, Evelyn Maier and Carol Unruh, both of
Newton, and Judy Halula of Parker, Colo.; a brother, John Sills of Newton;
seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Broadway Colonial
Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will receive friends after 6:30 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
A memorial has been established with the Salvation Army.
