Virginia Adams
Virginia Adams, 88, died Sunday (Jan. 10, 2010) at her
Newton residence.
She was born on Feb. 25, 1921, in Apache, Okla., to Francis
John and Cathrine Louise (Meyers) Chapple.
On Nov. 22, 1942, she married E.E. "Bud" Adams in
Peabody. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2006.
Virginia was a member of the Newton VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed collecting glassware, especially owls and cat figurines.
Family was very important to Virginia, and she looked
forward to their visits and spending time with them. She also wrote poetry to
be shared with her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include three sons, James Adams, Gerold Adams and
John Adams, all of Newton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a
brother, Ralph Chapple.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marget Feather and
Jean Bigger; husband E.E. "Bud" Adams; and her parents.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral
Home, with Bill Gale officiating. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m.
Thursday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita.
Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in
care of the funeral home.
