Monroe R. 'Mo' Schroeder
Monroe R. "Mo' Schroeder, 84, died Wednesday (Dec. 16,
2009) at Newton Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 31, 1925, in Newton to
Walter R. and Elsie May (Loewman) Schroeder. On June 6, 1948, he married Bonnie
Lou Baumgartner in Newton, and she survives of the home. Monroe was an active
member of Salem United Methodist Church in Newton. During his career, he worked
at Railway Express and Triple F Feed as a salesman. He also was a full-time
farmer. After his retirement, he was a custodian and maintenance man for Salem
United Methodist Church. Monroe had a deep affection for his beloved Salem
church.
He enjoyed stamp collecting and following the Atlanta Braves
baseball team.
Monroe also is survived by his three daughters, Julie Welty
and her husband Tim of Newton, Jennifer Schroeder of Newton, and Laurie Wright
and her husband James of Burrton; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Florence
Zielger.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Salem United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Sherry Clemons and Pastor Adam Welty presiding.
A private family graveside service will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials may be left with Salem United Methodist Church in
care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
