Lois Irene Powell
Lois Irene Powell, 88, of Newton, died Thursday (Dec. 17,
2009) at Newton Medical Center. She was born on June 15, 1921, in Newton, the
daughter of Delmar and Ethel Morris Brown. She was a lifelong resident of Newton.
Lois married Victor Eugene Powell on Jan. 16, 1948, in Newton. Lois was a
member of Second Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. Survivors include her
husband, Victor, of the home in Newton; two daughters, Victoria Padgett and her
husband James of Memphis, Tenn., and Patricia Wiley-Boyd of Kansas City, Mo.;
one sister, Wanda Jackson of Atlanta; and four grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and one sister,
Emogene Moore.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the
funeral home, where the family will receive them between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in
Newton.
