HALSTEAD—Bennie D. Unruh died Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born Jan. 20, 1932 at Montezuma, Kansas to Benjamin and Mabel (Unruh) Unruh.
He was a member of First Mennonite Church Halstead and was a 1950 graduate of Halstead High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of Ruth-Wilson American Legion Post 231 Halstead.
On July 27, 1956 he married Edith A. Dalke at Halstead; she survives of the home.
Other survivors include son Barry (Ann) Unruh, Halstead; daughters: Arletta McGinn, Halstead; Sandy (Tim) Lewis, Newton; brothers: Harold, Boise, Idaho;
Raleigh, Wichita; Allen (Karolyn), Halstead; Douglas, Wichita; sister Shirley Parsons, Shawnee; brother-in-law: Myron Chaffee, Newton; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead. The family will be present from 6:30-8 p.m.
Interment will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at Halstead Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, Halstead, with Pastor Steve Wilcox officiating.
Memorials may be given to First Mennonite Church or the Alzhiemers Association in care of Kaufman Funeral Home.
