Vernon Clithero

Vernon Clithero, 84, died Wednesday (Dec. 2, 2009) at Newton Medical Center. He was born Oct. 30, 1925, in Peabody to Joe and Bessie (Swinhart) Clithero Sr. On April 8, 1957 he married Leona G. Killion in Newton. She survives of home. Vernon was a member Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton. He retired from Hay and Forage of Hesston as a welder. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially spending winters in Arizona. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing.

Vernon looked forward to spending time with his loving family and grandchildren and the special friends he made on the Kansas Christian Home campus.

He is survived by his wife; stepson Allen and Judy Killion of Plano, Texas; stepdaughter Bonnie Mosier of Mesa, Ariz.; five step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joe, Ed, and Elmo Clithero; and sister Ellen Robinsen.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. Cheryl Jefferson Bell presiding.

A private burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials my be made to the Trinity Heights United Methodist Church Building Fund in care of Peterson Funeral Home.
