Nelson Edward Dreier
HESSTON - Nelson Edward Dreier, 84, of Hesston died today
(Dec. 31, 2009) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, after a short illness. Nelson
was born on May 14, 1925, in Newton to Fred and Luella Molzen Dreier. He was
raised by his stepmother, Keturah Kaufman Buckwalter. He graduated from Newton
High School. On Nov. 28, 1947, he married Enola Tangeman. They were lifetime
residents of rural Hesston, where he was a dairyman until the early 1970s and
had been in farming ever since. Nelson was a member of Highland Trinity United
Church of Christ in rural Newton.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Enola, of Hesston:
three daughters, Connie Selzer, Judy Young and husband Bob, and Cindy Frey and
husband Russ, all of Hesston; son, Tim Dreier of Bozeman, Mont.; 10
grandchildren, Neal Roth Jr., Nathan Roth Sr., Staci Young Hansen, Derek Young,
Ryan Dreier, Justin Dreier, Kristin Frey, Kelcie Frey, Jason Frey and Lindsey
Selzer; and great-grandchildren, Parker Roth, Ryleigh Roth, Nathan Roth Jr.,
Christian Roth, Brooklynn Roth, Kaleb Hansen, Blake Hansen and Braden Hansen.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; brothers
Kenneth, Delbert, Alvin and David; sister Maurine Briar; and two
granddaughters, Tina and Crystal Young.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Ott
Funeral Home in Hesston to sign the book, with Family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
The memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Highland
Trinity United Church of Christ, 8322 N. Anderson St. in rural Newton. A
private family burial will be at a later date at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Harry
Hynes Memorial Hospice and Highland Trinity United Church of Christ in rural
Newton, both in care of the funeral home.
