Anna M. Florez
WICHITA - Anna M. Florez, 90, died Tuesday (Oct. 6, 2009) at
Wichita Presbyterian Manor. She was born on June 2, 1919, in Newton. Anna was
raised in Newton by her loving grandparents. On Feb. 14, 1942, she married
Frank Florez in Newton. He preceded her in death in 1997. Anna attended Our
Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton and was a member of All Saints
Catholic Church in Wichita. She enjoyed sewing and music, and was an
accomplished cook. Anna was a supporter of St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Family was important to Anna, and she greatly enjoyed
spending time with her loving family and many friends.
Survivors include her son, Robert and Kim Florez of Wichita;
daughters Anna and William Hillman of Las Vegas, and Eva Florez of Wichita; 10
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Erway.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of
Guadalupe Catholic Church, with the Rev. Juan Garza of the church officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials may be made to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Building
Fund or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
