Lucile J. Jackson
Lucile J. Jackson, 93, died Thursday (Oct. 8, 2009) at
Newton Medical Center. She was born on June 7, 1916, in Moundridge to Bernard
S. and Mary (Voran) Krehbiel. She graduated from Moundridge High School, moved
to Newton and began work at Young's Lunch. She married Harold L. Jackson on
Sept. 5, 1942. They spent 65 years together until Harold's death in 2008.
Lucile was a homemaker and enjoyed all aspects of family life. She was an
accomplished seamstress and quilt maker. She was a member of Bethel College
Mennonite Church, where she had served in many capacities including youth group
and Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed time with her family and her sewing circle
friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois (John) Balthrop and
Leanne (Richard) Klassen of Newton; a son, Thomas (Gayle) Jackson of North
Newton; brother Rollins Krehbiel of Hesston; seven grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold and
brothers Orlando Krehbiel and Neal Krehbiel.
A memorial service will be at 3 .m. Monday at Bethel College
Mennonite Church in North Newton.
