Virginia Hulpieu
Virginia Hulpieu, 85, died Oct. 1, 2009, at St. Anthony
Central Hospital in Denver. She was born on Oct. 25, 1923, in Newton, the
daughter of Murl and Lucile (Mitchell) Miller. She graduated from Newton High
School in 1941. She graduated from Emporia State University with a bachelor of
art’s degree in teaching. On May 21, 1946, she married C. Frederic Hulpieu. He
preceded her in death on March 6, 1990. She first taught at Central School of
Dodge City, and after she she married Mr. Hulpieu, she was a volunteer teacher
and homemaker for 46 years. Virginia was a member of the Presbyterian Church
and the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Gynia and husband, C.E. Crane
III, of Aurora, Colo.; a son, Gordon and wife, Loree Kaleth Hulpieu, of Erie,
Colo.; two brothers, Lloyd Miller of Wellington and Kenneth Miller of Wichita;
a sister, Beverly Hiebert of Newton; one granddaughter, Heather Crane of
Denver; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Nelson of Denver; and several nieces
and nephews.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Swaim
Funeral Home of Dodge City, with Deacon John Ingalls presiding.
Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

67801 or in care of the funeral home.
