Harold L. Voth
Harold L. Voth, 80, died Thursday (Oct. 22, 2009) at Thorne
Care Center in Hutchinson. He was born on July 14, 1929, in Goessel to Jacob A.
and Maria Unruh Voth. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. On July 14,
1954, he married Vernelle Claire Miller in Partridge. A resident of Haven since
1966, he was a teacher, principal and superintendent at Ransom, Burrton and
Haven. After his retirement in 1994, he was an interim superintendent at
Hesston, Renwick and Cheney. He served on the Kansas State Board of Education
and Kansas State High School Activities Association.
Harold was a member of Burrton Mennonite Church, where he
served as Sunday school teacher, deacon and board chairman.
Survivors include his wife, Vernelle Voth of Haven; two
sons, Douglas Voth and wife, Diane, of Danville, Ky., and Vance Voth and wife,
Stephanie, of Hutchinson; daughter, Vernita Schrag and husband, Lee, of
Hesston; and seven grandchildren, Tyler and Adam Voth, Kayla and Logan Schrag,
and Mason, Matthew and Bryant Voth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a
sister.
Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson.
Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Burrton
Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Jim Dunn and Pastor Jim Gundy officiating. The
family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Wesley Towers Good Samaritan
Fund/Special Care Unit, Mennonite Disaster Service or Hospice of Reno County in
care of the mortuary.
