Charlotte Ann (Ellis) Thompson, 78, formerly of Cedar Point, Kansas passed away peacefully at her home in Halstead, Kansas on Nov. 6, 2017. She was born on July 28, 1939 at Mountain Grove, Missouri to Arthur Eugene and Zella Merle (Goddard) Thornburg.
Charlotte and Doyle met in Florence, Kansas where they fell in love and eloped on Sept. 3, 1955. Charlotte was a homemaker and loving mother who raised seven children on the family farm in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Together she and Doyle hosted many family get-togethers where good food, stories, and laughs were shared and lasting memories made.
Charlotte recently retired from The New Medical Healthcare Clinic in Halstead where she was a volunteer for 10 years. She had many friends, as she loved helping people in the community.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her soulmate and husband of 43 years, Franklin Doyle; sisters Geneva McGrew, Vera Davis, Daisy “Dee” Moore, Opal Sigler, Lizabeth Thornburg; brother Eugene “Gene” Ellis and step-brother Charles “Bud” Thornburg.
She is survived by her sister, Vernel Lovett; sons Michael D. Thompson (Sheila), Sheldon L. Thompson (Mary), Randy L. Thompson (Kitty), Craig W. Thompson (Wendy) and Buckley E. Thompson (Stephanie); daughters Julie I. Parsons (Stanley), Tamera A. Brady (Earl Holder), sisters-in-law Marilyn Thornburg, Bert Hess, Carol Thompson, Nancy Thompson; brother-in-law Terry Sigler, 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, at Baker Funeral Home, 6100 E Central Avenue, Wichita, KS 67208.
Graveside services will be at Walnut Valley Memorial Park, 725 Boyer Rd, El Dorado, KS 67042.
