Leora J. 'Lee' Martin
Leora Joy 'Lee' Martin, 77, died Sunday (Sept. 6, 2009) at
Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born on Feb. 10, 1932, near Beloit in
Mitchell County to Chester Roland and Elsie Verna (Alley) Blundon. On July 31,
1981, she married Terry Martin in Andover. He survives of the home. She
formerly was married to Theodore Will and Ralph Wolting. They both preceded her
in death. Lee grew up in the Salina area and graduated from Hunter High School.
She worked for the ASCS office in Newton and was the owner/operator of R &
L Panel Center in Wichita from 1968 to 1985.
Lee loved hunting for bargains, auctions and garage sales.
She also enjoyed gardening and caring for houseplants, as well as crocheting,
and she loved sharing her creations with her family and friends. She also was
an animal lover, especially cats. Lee collected cookbooks and later published
her own cookbook.
Family was very important to Lee, and she greatly looked
forward to spending time with her loving family and many friends.
Other survivors include daughters, Teresa and Scott Kem of
Lenexa, and Stacey and Brian Tappan of Newton; stepson, Michael and Verna
Martin of Tennessee; special pet kitties, Precious and Stormy; grandsons, Eric
and Crystal Hardman of Overland Park, Erik and Erica Mason of Maize, Michael
and Rebecca Mason of Kansas City and Jeffrey Kem Jr. of Odessa, Mo.; great-grandsons,
William Hardman of Gardner, Nathaniel Kem of Odessa, and Harley Kem of Odessa;
great-granddaughters, Jaylynn Kem of Odessa, McKenna Luna of Maize and Brlynne
Mason of Maize.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral
home, with Pastor Bob Clark of Newton Bible Church officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Caring Hands Humane
Society in care of the funeral home.
