Martha L. Voth
Martha L. Voth, 104, of North Newton died Tuesday (Sept. 8,
2009) at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton. She was born on June 26, 1905,
in rural McPherson County to Herman and Agnes Jantzen. On Aug. 30, 1931, she
married Herbert Voth at Bethel College Mennonite Church. He preceded her in
death on June 4, 1977. Martha was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church
in North Newton. Her faith was a guiding light in her life. She was on the
kitchen and funeral committees of the church and also taught Sunday school.
Martha worked for Herald Publishing Co. in Newton, starting
in 1924 and worked for them for nearly 30 years before her retirement. Martha
greatly looked forward to spending time with her loving family and many
friends. She made sure birthdays and holidays always were remembered with
generous amounts of home cooked and homegrown food.
Following her retirement, she took over the gift shop at the
old Bethel Hospital, where she continued to make many friends. Martha's joy and
zest for life radiated for all to see.
Survivors include daughters, Donna and Jerry Friesen of
Newton, Evelyn Stabler of Newton, and Elvira and Ed Glenn of Lafayette, Colo.;
son, Raymond Voth of Fort Morgan, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; one step-grandchild;
18 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Eugene
Voth; and brothers, David Jantzen and Walter Jantzen.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethel College
Mennonite Church in North Newton with Pastor Heidi Regier Kreider of the church
officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Hospice Care of Kansas or Bethel College Mennonite Church in care of the
funeral home.
