Leona E. Unruh
Leona E. Unruh died Thursday (Sept. 10, 2009) at Kidron
Bethel Village in North Newton. She was born on April 2, 1909, in Butler
County, the daughter of Peter P. and Susanna Schmidt Nickel. Leona graduated from
Newton High School. She held a church membership with Grace Hill Mennonite
Church. On June 1, 1935, she married Theodore Unruh at Grace Hill. He died July
5, 1977. Survivors include son, Virgil and wife, Eileen, of Newton; daughter,
Bonnie Enns and husband, Ken, of Inman; four grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren.
Leona was preceded in death by two sisters, Molly and Leah,
and a brother, Louis.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, with the family greeting visitors from 5 to 7
p.m.
Graveside services will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday at Grace Hill
Cemetery, with a memorial service to follow at 10 a.m. at Grace Hill Mennonite
Church.
