Wilma Irene (Allen) Orpin
Wilma Irene (Allen) Orpin, 79, died Sunday (Sept. 13, 2009)
in Newton. She was born on Aug. 19, 1930, in Newton to Grover Cleveland and Alta
Lena (Wisner) Allen. She attended school in Peabody. Wilma met her husband,
Jack B. Orpin, while she was waitressing at the Walton Café. Jack and Wilma
were married on March 11, 1958, in Newton. They raised their family and lived
51 years of marriage together on Ash Street in Newton. He survives of Newton.
Wilma was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, her flower gardens, garage sales,
and organizing picnics and family gatherings. Wilma also enjoyed spending time
with her family.
Survivors also include three daughters, Martha (James) Pajl
of Yankton, S.D., Alice (Dale) Keazer of Osage City and Elsie Waite of Newton;
grandchildren, Elizabeth (Walter) Wilson, Matthew (Rachel) Pajl, Joseph Pajl,
Jacquelyn Pajl, Rebecca (Darrel) Manning, Brandon Keazer and Lindsay Croucher,
Heather Keazer, Kelly Keazer, and Amber, Cheyenne and Shelby Waite;
great-grandchildren, Decklyn and Preston Manning; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers,
Wilbert Lee Allen, Melvin George Allen and Arthur Dewey Allen; and two sisters,
Rosetta Marie (Allen) Brooks and Beatrice B. (Allen) Wentworth.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, with family greeting visitors from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral
home, with the Rev. Terry Tareila presiding.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
