Neal Hughes Potts
Neal Hughes Potts, 86, died on Aug. 30, 2009, in Edmond,
Okla. Neal was born on Aug. 11, 1923, in Wichita to Ralph and Esther (Sullivan)
Potts. They preceded him in death. He married Martha Lou Manning on Sept. 1,
1946, at St. James Episcopal Church in Wichita. She preceded him in death Neal
served as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Later on, he
attended Wichita University, where he received his bachelor of science degree
in geology. He worked as a geologist and in other capacities in the oil and gas
business, as well as in the commercial real estate business, living in Kansas,
Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and California during his career.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen Manning Potts of Dallas
and Randall Neal Potts of Austin, Texas; and his brother, Ralph B. Potts Jr. of
Brooklyn Park, Minn.
He also was preceded in death by his sister, Louise S.
Potts, and son, David Lee Potts.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Hillside
Cemetery in rural Sedgwick. The Rev. Michael A. Bernard of St. James Episcopal
Church will officiate.
