Gordon L. Olson
Gordon L. Olson, 80, of McPherson, died Wednesday (Feb. 25,
2009) at Harry Hynes Hospice Inpatient Care Unit at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center-St. Francis campus in Wichita.
He was born April 11, 1928, in Rice Lake, Wis., to Morris
and Mabel (Thorgerson) Olson.
He was a resident of McPherson since 2002 and had lived in
Chetek, Wis., from 1967 to 1991, as well as Newton and Clay Center.
He married Esther A. Rundblad on May 8, 1953, in Chetek. She
survives of the home.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a
retired plumbing and heating contractor and had owned and operated Gordie's
Plumbing and Heating in Chetek.
He was a member of Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson.
Other survivors include a son, Douglas Olson and wife,
Susan, of Newton; daughters, Shirlee Harper and husband, Darrell, of McPherson,
Joan Schulz and husband, Ricky, of Middleton, Wis., and Lori Crown and husband,
Dwight, of McPherson; brother, Arlie Olson and wife, JoAnne, of Chetek; 11
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Peter; three
brothers, Raymond, Merlin and Arden; and a sister, Ruth Rozak.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Stockham
Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut in McPherson. Family will be present from
5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Countryside
Covenant Church, with the Rev. John Black officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service. Inurnment
will be at Garfield Center Cemetery near Garfield at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Countryside Covenant
Church or Victory Village Heart Ministries in care of the funeral home.
