Obituary
Rita M. Myers, 88, passed away Thursday
(Nov. 23, 2017) at Newton Medical Center. Rita was born April 25,
1929, in Lincoln, the daughter of Arthur and Laura (Montgomery)
Nelson.
After graduating high school, she
married Lester L. Myers on June 7, 1947, in Lincoln. Rita worked at
Barnard State Bank for 36 years until her retirement in 1991. She was
a member of the First Baptist Church in Barnard until moving to
Newton five years ago, and later changed her membership to the First
Baptist Church in Newton.
Rita is survived by her two sons, Jim
Myers and wife Barb of Newton and Steve Myers and wife Janet of
Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren: Tonya, Kimberly, Tyra, Keegan
and Ian; and three great-grandchildren: Lauren, Max and Emma.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Lester; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8
p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 28, 2017), with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 29, 2017) at the
First Baptist Church of Barnard, with Pastors Chip Bungard and Dennis
Finch presiding. Interment will follow at the Milo Cemetery in
Barnard.
