Barbara Ann (Beard) Cone
Barbara Ann (Beard) Cone, 45, of Fort Lauderdale, went home
to be with the Lord on Sunday (Sept. 20, 2009).
She was born on Oct. 19, 1963, to William H. Beard Sr. and
Esther E. Beard of Newton. She attended Cooper School, graduated from Newton
High School and attended Bethel College.
She married her teenage sweetheart, John Cone, and lived in
Newton briefly before moving to Fort Lauderdale.
She was employed at Wal-Mart. She was a member of Mt. Olive
Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale. She loved the Lord and her church, in which
she was very active. Her main hobby was shopping. Barbara truly loved to shop!
She is survived by her husband, John Cone; her son, Deandre,
of the home; daughter, Lekesia of Orlando, Fla.; brothers, Watson E. of Kansas
City, Mo., Robert K. of Los Angeles and Ted Sr. of Kent, Wash.; sister, Janet
M. Beard of Newton; mother, Esther Beard of Newton; a grandson; and numerous
cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and brothers,
William Jr. and Bruce L.
Public visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at
Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home. Committal services will be conducted at Greenwood Cemetery
following the service.
