Newton Kansan, The (KS) - Monday, August 7, 2006

Bruce Beard, 57, of Newton died Thursday (Aug. 3, 2006) at Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis campus in Wichita.

He was born Dec. 26, 1948, in Newton to Esther E. and William H. Beard Sr.

He was a 1966 Newton High School graduate and earned an associate of arts degree from Friends University in Wichita.

His favorite pasttimes were fishing, reading and watching sports of all kinds on television.

Survivors include two sisters, Janet Beard of Newton and Barbara Ann (Beard) Cone and husband John of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three brothers, Watson Eugene Beard of Kansas City, Mo., Robert K. Beard of Los Angeles, and Ted Beard Sr. and his wife, Shirley, of Kent, Wash.; and his mother, Esther E. Beard of Hesston.

He was preceded in death by his father, three brothers and a sister.

The memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements.
