Patricia A. "Pat" Smith
On Thursday Nov. 30, Patricia A. "Pat"
Smith, our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went home to
The Lord and is reunited with family and friends.
Patricia Ann Ward was born on July 22,
1941 to Hiram and Marie Ward, longtime residents of Halstead, Kansas.
She follows them home to also be with brother Stephen Ward. Close,
loving sister Barbara Ward of Garland, Texas survives.
Mom graduated from Halstead High School
in 1959. She later met and married our Dad, Fred Smith of Hesston.
They remained close until the end. They were blessed with four
children. Doug and wife Shannon Smith of Overland Park, Kansas, twins
Lori Schneider of Friendswood, Texas, and Lisa Wilson of Hutchinson,
and Don Smith of Friendswood, Texas.
Pat retired from Dillon's Company's
accounting services and devoted her extra time to her beloved
sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. She earned the prestigious badge known as
the Golden Circle, honoring those with 50+ years of dedication to
that organization.
Mom loved life and people, always happy
to lend an ear and share a laugh. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and
could shoot a pretty good bow in archery. She was very fond of
antiques and well aware of a "good" deal.
Besides loving her own children, she
adored so her grandchildren Bret, Jordan, Alyssa, Taylor, Maci,
Hannah, and great granddaughter Kaydence.
A visitation with the family will be
6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
Private graveside services will be held
at Halstead Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Beta Sigma
Phi or First United Methodist Church in care of Kaufman Funeral Home.
