INMAN Roy Brenneman, 85, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Inman.
He was born Dec. 23, 1920, to George and Lillie Mae (Brown) Brenneman in Caddoa, Colo.
He married Frieda Ediger April 20, 1954, in Inman. She died April 24, 2001.
He worked for farmers in the Zimmerdale area and served with the Civilian Conservation Corps before entering in World War II. He served in World War II from June 2, 1942, to Nov. 25, 1945. He entered the Kansas National Guard from 1949 to 1951. After the war, he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in December of 1980 after 35 years.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Newton and attended the Inman Mennonite Church in Inman.
He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW of Newton.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Brenneman and wife, Crystal, Olathe, and Richard "Rick" Brenneman and wife, Mellissa, Liberal; five grandchildren, Jeremy Brenneman and wife, Stephanie, Angelia Brenneman, Darin Brenneman, Breanna Brenneman and Blake Brenneman; and one sister, Marie Partridge, Newton.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lawrence Brenneman and Jess Brenneman.
* Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene in Newton with Jeremy Brenneman presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors given by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Buhler Mortuary in Buhler.
