Douglas K. Ensz
Douglas K. Ensz, 74, died Monday (Oct.
24, 2005) at his residence in Newton. He was born April 23, 1931, in
Wichita and was adopted by John and Louise (Janzen) Ensz. They
preceded him in death. He married Dorma Brenneman Dec. 30, 1975, in
Newton. She preceded him in death July 13, 1991. He served his
country aboard a destroyer in the U.S. Navy. Doug was a member of
Salem United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars where he was past commander, and the American Legion,
all of Newton. He held many jobs in his working career including
Girdens and Santa Fe Railroad. He retired as a meter reader for KG&E.
Doug also was a licensed electrician. He was an avid fisherman and
enjoyed making clocks for his friends and family. He liked birds,
especially his pet parrot.
Survivors include; a stepson, Dan and
Sue Higgins of Hutchinson; a brother, J.B. And Lou Ensz of Newton;
nephews, Tom and Diane Ensz of Keller; Texas, and Brad and Renee Ensz
of Newton; several grandnieces and grandnephews; three
step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchldren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p. m.
Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10 a. m.
Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home with the Rev. Sherry Clemonds of
Salem United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
The Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion will provide
a military honor guard at the gravesite.
Memorials have been established with
Salem United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
