Obituary
Kevin W. Schmidt, 54, died Dec. 9,
2017, at Ft. Worth, Texas, following a struggle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 22, 1963, in Newton to
Dennis and Eunice (Alexander).
He attended Meridian Baptist Church in
Newton.
Kevin enjoyed fishing and many memories
were made fishing with his daughter near the First Street bridge on
Sand Creek in Newton. He had a love of cooking, and his friends and
family looked forward to special meals together. Racing, NASCAR and
NHRA were dear to his heart. He followed both Dale Earnhardt and Dale
Jr in their racing careers. Spending time with his family and friends
was a priority to Kevin.
He is survived by his daughter, Abby
Friesen and her children, Caleb and Caden, all of Newton; mother,
Eunice Schmidt of Newton; and brothers: Mark Schmidt of Erie,
Colorado, Greg Schmidt of Halstead and Jim Schmidt of Newton.
He is preceded in death by his beloved
father, Dennis.
A celebration of Kevin's life will be 2
p.m. Saturday (Dec. 23, 2017) at Meridian Baptist Church in Newton,
with Pastor Scott Kliewer presiding. Private family interment will be
in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
Memorials are suggested to the Kevin
Schmidt Family Fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
