Obituary
Larry Eugene Thaw passed away Dec. 13,
2017, at his home in Newton. He was 63 years old.
Larry was always a hard worker, a
strong and independent man, liked and loved by many. He was a devoted
son, a loving father and grandfather, a treasured brother, uncle and
cousin and a loyal friend to many individuals. He was well known for
his kind and gentle spirit.
Larry was born on Sept. 2, 1954, in
Newton, to Jack Thaw Sr. and Odessa (King) Thaw. He attended school
in Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School and Kansas State
University. He was employed at Boeing/Spirit for the last 25 years.
In 1988, Larry was blessed with a
daughter, Lindsay, his proudest accomplishment. He was a devoted and
doting father from the first day of her arrival.
Larry was a successful Newton wrestler.
He continued his love of wrestling by helping to coach the kid's club
in the 70s, starting his nephews in the sport. He was an avid
wrestling fan and could be seen at most of Newton's meets, cheering
the Railer team throughout the years.
Preceding Larry in death were his
father, Jack Thaw Sr.; his brother, Michael; and his sisters:
Patricia, Gloria Crawford and Joyce Giles.
Larry is survived by his mother, Odessa
Thaw of Goessel; his daughter, Lindsay Thiry and her husband, Dustin,
of Wichita; his very precious and adored granddaughter, Dessa Quinn;
his brothers, Jack Thaw Jr. (JoAnne) and Donald Thaw (Veronica); and
his nieces, nephews and dozens of loving cousins.
A memorial service and celebration of
life has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 20, 2017) at
Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Inurnment will occur immediately
following the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. The family
will be available for visitation at Hall's Chapel following the
service.
