Olin Hermas Eby

Olin Hermas Eby, 82, died Wednesday (June 27, 2001) at his residence in Newton.

He was born Feb. 28, 1919, to Hermas R. and Esther M. (Tangeman) Eby in rural Newton. They preceded him in death. He married Lorene M. Prather Oct. 11, 1940, in Newton. She preceded him in death Oct. 14, 2000.

He was a farmer and construction worker for King Construction Co. of Hesston. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Newton where he served as deacon, elder and member of the Cruisers organization.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard Eby of Overland Park and Don Eby of Olathe; a brother, Chester Eby of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Alberta King of Hesston and Arlene Berner of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Eby.

Visitation will be from until 9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with the Permanent Endowment Fund of First United Presbyterian Church in care of the funeral home.
