Lorene Marle Prather Eby

Lorene Marle Prather Eby, 81, homemaker and teacher, died Saturday (Oct. 14, 2000) at Newton Medical Center. She was born May 19, 1919, to John E. and Anna (Harvey) Prather in rural Newton. They preceded her in death. She married Olin H. Eby Oct. 11, 1940, in Newton. He survives. She was a homemaker and a former rural school teacher, teaching at Gingrass School for one year and Stone School for two years in rural Newton. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Newton. She was a deacon and Elder, member of the Cruisers Organization and the Anna-Helen Circle, all of the church. She also was a member of the Thursday Morning Coffee Club.

Other survivors include: two sons, Richard Eby of Overland Park and Don Eby of Olathe; a sister, Barbara DuBois of Newton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Dreier.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.

Funeral service will be 10 a. m. Tuesday at First United Presbyterian Church in Newton with the Rev. James Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with the Permanent Endowment Fund at First United Presbyterian Church in care of the funeral home.
