Menno Dirksen

GOESSEL -- Menno Dirksen, 101, retired farmer, died Saturday (Oct.14, 2000) at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

He was born July 14, 1899, to Peter H. and Aganetha (Krause) Dirksen in Goessel. He married Edna Epp Oct. 4, 1924. She preceded him in death in 1977.

He lived on a farm between Goessel and Moundridge until 1967 when he moved to Newton, and later to Bethesda Home in 1979. He was a charter member of Goessel Mennonite Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Kermit Dirksen of Marion and Larry Dirksen of San Diego; two daughters, Geneva Bartel of Hillsboro and Jolene Dirksen of North Newton; a brother, Roland Dirksen of Moundridge; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p. m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel.

Memorial service will be 2 p. m. Thursday at Goessel Mennonite Church with Pastor Kevin Goertzen officiating.

The family will have a private burial service Thursday at Goessel Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with Bethesda Home in Goessel.
