Alex Vicin
Alex Vicin, 73, of Newton, died Wednesday (July 29, 2009) at
Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1935, in Prague, Czechoslovakia, to
Peter Alex and Tatiana (Karpow) Vicin. They preceded him in death.
On May 24, 1958, he married Patricia Lawson at the Fort
Knox, Ky., base chapel. She survives of Newton.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. Alex worked for Kobi
Office Co. prior to his retirement. He also volunteered at Newton Medical
Center for the past 20 years.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the company of his golfing
buddies. Alex was a patriotic person and loved his country. He also was a
family man and very devoted to his loving wife, children and grandchildren.
Other survivors include his son, Rob and Tammy Vicin of
Wichita; granddaughters, Shaunna Hill, Megan Vicin and Ashley Vicin; grandsons,
Tyler Vicin and Logan Vicin; and brother, Serge Karpow of Alameda, Calif.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya Lane, and
a granddaughter, Heather Ann Lane.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home, with Pastor Roger Scantlin of New Life Assembly of God in Newton
officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart
Association in care of the funeral home.
