Ethel Helmer
Ethel Helmer, 85,
died Thursday (Aug. 6, 2009) at Memorial Home in Moundridge.
Ethel was born on Aug. 25, 1923, in Moundridge to C. H. and
Lydia Flickner Kaufman.
She graduated from Bethel College in 1945, then taught at
Bunker Hill.
Ethel married Ed Helmer in 1947. A farming, homemaking life
followed at Burns. Ed preceded her in death.
She moved to Pine Village, Memorial Home in 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Burt and wife, Jana, of
Andover, and Kevin of El Dorado; two daughters, Kris Hayes-York and husband,
Jim, of Winfield and Julie Morrison of Newton; four brothers, Howard, Virg, and
Del Kaufman, all of Moundridge, and Lee Kaufman of Winfield; five
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Moundridge
Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Eden
Mennonite Church in Moundridge. Interment will follow at noon at Pleasant
Center Cemetery near Burns.
Memorial donations may be given to Eden Mennonite Church,
Burns United Methodist Church or the Parkinson's Foundation in care of the
funeral home.
