Myrtle R. Wedel
Myrtle R. Wedel, 93, died Tuesday (Aug. 11, 2009) at Village
Manor Healthcare in Abilene.
She was born on Sept. 27, 1915, in Anderson, Mo., to Fred
and Alice (VanWinkle) Hoyt. They preceded her in death.
She married Winnie Lee Stotler on Sept. 29, 1935. He
preceded her in death.
On Oct. 3, 1968, she married Nathan Wedel. He survives of
Abilene.
Myrtle was a member of East Side United Methodist Church in
Newton. She was a homemaker and self-taught reweaver. She earned her living
doing contract reweaving for more than 50 years. Myrtle looked forward to
spending time with her loving family and many friends she has made through the
years.
She also is survived by son, Wesley Stotler and his wife,
Nancy, of Manhattan; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Stotler of Alabama;
grandchildren, Lance Stotler, Leslie Holcomb, Lisa Stanford, Robin Horn and
Anna Fordyce and their families; and several great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Gus M. Stotler;
brother, Sydney; sisters, Opal and Imogene; and grandson, Doug Stotler.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Graveside committal service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at
Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton, with the Rev. John Goering presiding.
Memorials may be left with Village Manor in Abilene in care
of the funeral home.
