Julia R. Grochowsky-Reynolds
Julia R. Grochowsky-Reynolds, 85, died
Friday (Jan. 30, 2004) at Newton Medical Center. She was born Dec.
11, 1918, to William H. and Julia (Kelly) Buckman in Newton. They
preceded her in death. She married Vincent J. Grochowsky June 20,
1938, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton. He preceded her in
death March 29, 1986. She married Raymond "Ray" Reynolds
June 1, 1991, in Newton. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1998.
She was a member of Our Lady of
Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. She served as regent of St.
Joseph Circle, Daughters of Isabella, and was secretary-treasuser of
the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She graduated
from Cathedral High School in Wichita in 1936. She was employed in
the offices of the State of Kansas in Topeka.
Survivors include: a daughter; Carolyn
Marie Cox of Denver; three sons, Michael Grochowsky of Mission,
Patrick Grochowsky of Kansas City, MO., and Thomas Grochowsky of
Newton; a stepson, Ronald Gabriel of Harbor City, Calif.; a
stepdaughter, Betty Jo Starin of Newton; a sister, Frances Stevenson
of Phoenix; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by: two
brothers, Bernard Buckman and Emmett Buckman; and two sisters,
Madonna Schuetz and Margaret Wilson.
Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today
at Petersen Funeral Home.
Recitation of the rosary will be 7 p.
m. today at the funeral home with family greeting friends afterward.
Funeral service will be 10 a. m.
Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. John
Hotze of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic
Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church in care of the funeral home.
