Edward J. Voth
BUHLER - Edward J. Voth, 95, passed away Saturday (Aug. 15,
2009) at Pleasant View Home in Inman.
He was born on March 9, 1914, in Plains, the son of Henry
and Mary Janzen Voth.
He graduated from Bethel College with a degree in physics.
He started the Garden City Junior College football and track programs, where he
coached for several years. He had worked for Kaiser Frazier Car Dealership in
Newton, then was the owner/operator of Ed Voth Motors in Newton, which was a
Lincoln Mercury dealership.
He was a past member of the Buhler Kiwanis and the Newton
Lions Club. He was a member of Buhler Mennonite Church.
On Aug. 18, 1940, he married Ruth Roth in Whitewater. She
survives.
Other survivors include two sons, James and wife, Barbara,
of Buhler, and Mark and wife, Rebecca, of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Suzanne
Lara of Lawrence and Sally Company of Lawrence; one brother, Eldon and wife,
Lois, of Hutchinson; three sisters, Rosella Tracy and husband, Ted, of Wichita,
Ann Bell and husband, Gaines, of El Dorado, and Helen Reynolds and husband,
Gene, of Overland Park; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Herman, Arnold,
Leonard and Wilmer, and one sister, Leona Unruh.
Private family graveside services have taken place. A
memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
