John Penner
John Penner, 91, died Tuesday (Aug. 25, 2009) at Memorial
Home in Moundridge.
He was born on April 2, 1918, in Newton, the son of Abraham
and Elizabeth (Gaede) Penner. They preceded him in death.
On June 14, 1944, he married Luella Koehn at First Mennonite
Church in Newton. She preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 2006.
John was a member of Newton Bible Church in Newton. He was a
retired dairy farmer and retired from Greenwood Cemetery in Newton after 28
years.
John was well known in Newton for his love of repairing and
maintaining lawn mowers. John made many friends during his time at Newton
Presbyterian Manor and Memorial Home.
Family was very important to him. He greatly looked forward
to spending time with his loving daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Survivors include daughter, Teresa (Penner) and Dennis Stahl
of Hesston; grandson, Justin and Melanie Stahl of Wessington Springs, S.D.;
granddaughter, Raynel and Brent Dobson of McPherson; brother, Carl Penner of
Peabody; and seven great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronny
Penner; two brothers; and six sisters.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Newton Bible Church,
with Pastors Don Myer and Ted Veer officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Missions, Memorial Home or Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the funeral home.
