Orvilla D. Dester
BUHLER - Orvilla D. Dester, 93, died March 11, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Village, Hutchinson.
She was born March 16, 1912, in Moundridge, the daughter of Otto and Selma Krehbiel Reusser. She graduated from Halstead School of Nursing. A resident of Buhler, moving from Deer Creek, Okla., she was a registered nurse at Blackwell Hospital, Blackwell, Okla., St. Elizabeth Hospital and Hutchinson Hospital, in the nursery. She was the owner and operator of Dester Food Market, Buhler.
She belonged to Buhler Mennonite Church and was a past member of Deer Creek Mennonite Church.
On April 25, 1942, she married Irvin J. Dester in Deer Creek. He died June 3, 1974.
Survivors include: a daughter, Luanne Karriker, Hutchinson; three brothers, Ed Reusser, El Reno, Okla., Bob Reusser, Olathe, and Eugene Reusser, Blackwell.; two sisters, Maurine Kuehny, Blackwell and Lois Krehbiel, Kenosha, Wis.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bayard Cemetery, Deer Creek, Okla. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Buhler Mortuary and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Deer Creek Mennonite Church.
Memorials may be sent to the Good Samaritan Village or to Odyssey Health Care, both in care of the funeral home.
