Donald Samuel Claassen
WHITEWATER - Donald Samuel Claassen,
84, retired farmer from Whitewater, died Friday (April 28, 2006) at
Wheat State Manor.
He was born July 13, 1921, at
Whitewater to Edward and Catherina (Thiessen) Claassen.
He married Verbena Wedel June 6, 1943,
at Goltry, Okla. She survives.
He attended both English and German
schools near Whitewater during his grade school years. He attended
Whitewater High School and graduated in 1942 from Oklahoma Bible
Academy. Along with his twin brother Daniel, he was recognized in
1969 for an outstanding wheat crop by Sanners Feed Store of
Whitewater magazine.
He was a member of the Swiss Church of
Whitewater.
He is also survived by two daughters,
Donna Babcock and husband David of Glenvil, Neb., and Janelle Queen
of Hastings, Neb.; five brothers, Daniel Claassen and wife Dora of
Whitewater, Henry Claassen and wife Elsie of Whitewater, Curt
Claassena and wife Olga of Berne, Ind., David Claassen of Peoria,
Ill. and Melvin Claassen and wife Martha of Council Bluffs, Iowa;
brother in law Marvin Wedel of Enid, Okla; five sisters in law, Ruth
Claassen of Santa Cruz, Calif., Florence Claassen of Whitewater,
Rosalie Glidewell of Lincoln, Ark., Ruby Sideman of Wichita and
Evelyn Wedel of Wichita; grandchildren, Julayne Brown of Hastings,
Neb., Timothy, Carla and Laura Queen of Dallas, N.C.; three
step-grandchildren, Gene Babcock of Edgar, Neb., Beth Schlinctman and
husband Rob of Edgar, Neb. and Lee Babcock and wife Tara of Glenvil,
Neb.; great granddaughter McKayla Brown of Hastings, Neb.; and three
step-great-grandchildren, James Babcock of Glenvil, Neb., Jessica
Babcock of Glenvil., Neb., and Maggie Schlictman of Edgar, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, four brothers, three sisters, six brothers-in-laws and six
sisters-in-laws.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today
at the Swiss Church of Whitewater with Pastor Dale Janzen
officiating.

Building Fund and Hospice Care of Kansas.
