Mrs. M.A. Barger
News was received
this morning of the death of Mrs. M.A. Barger which occurred at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Fred Hockenberry, at Wichita, Thursday night. Mrs. Barger resided in Newton for many years
until the death of Captain Barger, then went to the home of her daughter in
Wichita, who is the only immediate family relative. The funeral will be held Monday morning at

Mrs. Martha Barger
The funeral services
of Mrs. Martha Barger whose death occurred in Wichita, March 3, were held at
Sprinkler's this morning at 10:00 o'clock conducted by Rev. C.F. Iwig, Pastor
of the Salem Evangelical Church, and was attended by many of her friends. The body was laid to rest in Greenwood.
Martha Dare was born
at Newry, Pennsylvania, October 20, 1845.
She was married to Robert B. Barger, December 25, 1871 and they moved to
Newton, Kansas in 1880 where they made their home until the death of Mr. Barger,
April 28, 1818 (sic). After her
husband's death, Mrs. Barger made her home in Wichita with her daughter, Mrs.
Fred Hockenbery until her death on last Friday.
Besides her daughter, she is survived by six grandchildren. She was a consistent Christian all her life
and a good neighbor and friend and was beloved by all who came into her
acquaintance. The family had many
friends during their residence here. Mr.
Barger was a printer during his early days here, later he became an accountant
and was book-keeper for the Evans Hardware store and then for the late Al Moore. These old family friends sympathize with Mrs.
Hockenbery in the loss of her mother.
Mrs. Barger is also
survived by two great-grandchildren residing in Wichita. The Evening
Kansan-Republican, Newton Kansas.
