Margaret 'Peggy' Cooke Wolivar
Peggy Wolivar, 85, formerly of Topeka, passed away Thursday
(July 2, 2009) in Laguna Niguel, Calif.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1924, in Wichita to Michael and Eva
Cooke. They preceded her in death.
She attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Grade School in
Wichita and graduated from Cathedral High School. She retired from Banquet
Foods in Carrolton, Mo., in 1979 and from AT&T in Topeka in 1989.
In 1959, she married Richard Wolivar. They were divorced
later.
After her retirement, she enjoyed family celebrations,
traveling and family genealogy. She was a member of Mater Dei Catholic Church in
Topeka.
The genealogy societies she was a member of included the
Prairie Hills Chapter of the DAR, the Henry Woodhouse Chapter of the Colonial
Dames of the XVII Century, the Kansas/Missouri Chapter of the Jamestowne
Society and the Topeka Genealogy Society.
Peggy's volunteer work in Topeka included service at the
Colmery O'Neal Veteran's Administration Hospital and Sheltered Living.
She is survived by son, Michael Wolivar (Kim) and two
grandchildren, Zachary and Alexis, of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a brother, Joe, of
Sunland, Calif.; three sisters, Kay Rosselot of Topeka, Jean Bauer of Wichita
and Rita Sadowski of Newton; and 40 nieces and nephews.
Peggy also was preceded in death by her brothers, Edwin,
Richard, Mike and Pat.
Funeral services will be in Laguna Niguel, with the time to
be announced later.
A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita.
