Former owners of Red Coach Inn die in car crash
The former owners of Newton's Red Coach Inn were killed
Tuesday near Manhattan in a car crash.
Eldon L. Thorman, 87, and his wife, Viola, 88, of Clay
Center were killed when their 2009 Chevy Impala was struck by a truck driven by
Kenneth Plummer, 47, of Wamego. Plummer was not injured.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Thorman pulled out
in front of Plummer's truck at 11:32 a.m. Tuesday one and a half miles east of
Manhattan on U.S. Highway 24.
The Thormans owned Red Coach for several years before
selling it last summer.
Arrangements for the funerals are being handled by
Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home of Manhattan.
All three individuals were wearing their seat belts.
