Thomas W. Fleming
Thomas W. Fleming, 90, of Hesston, passed away Tuesday (July
14, 2009) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1918, in Paola, the son of Thomas M.
and Grace Parker Fleming.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Moving from
Newton to Hesston in 1979, he was a farmer and had worked at Hay and Forage in
Hesston. He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton.
On Oct. 8, 1946, he married Rosella Frey at Newton. She
survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Gary and wife, Judy, of
Springdale, Ark., and Roger and wife, Cynthia, of Wichita; four grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Fleming, and
three brothers, Raymond, Ronald and Warren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at
Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton, with military rites conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. A
memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at First Mennonite Church in Newton,
with Pastor Joan Boyer and Chaplain Dennie Janzi presiding.
