Jean Vogt Herr

2008) in Amarillo.
She was born June 30, 1929, in Newton to Ada Mae Suenram
Vogt and Vernard Vogt. Jean was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Suenram
and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vogt, all of Moundridge.
Jean attended school in Moundridge and graduated in 1948,
attended Kansas State University and graduated at McPherson College majoring in
home economics. She taught at Moundridge High School and was dietician for the
Moundridge school system for several years.
Jean married Gordon Herr in 1949 in Moundridge. Jean and
Gordon were involved in ownership and management of three newspapers, mainly
the Moundridge Journal from 1966 until 1991, which had been owned by Jean's
family since an early date.
Jean lived in Amarillo 18 years and worked as a church
secretary for San Jacinto Methodist and Evangelical Fellowship. She was a
member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church.
Jean was a member of PEO sisterhood and held every office of
the organization. In 2008, she received recognition as a 50-year PEO member. In
everything Jean did, she did well, and her calm, even-handed way of dealing
with everything she encountered was typical of her personality.

She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and always enjoyed life with a
wonderful sense of humor. She played bridge, enjoyed world travel and was
