HUTCHINSON—Mary Edna (Talbott) Stubby, 90, died on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at the Hospice House. She was born on Nov. 16, 1927, south of Louisville along the Ohio River in Jefferson County, Kentucky.
Her parents were Charles Edwin Talbott and Mary Catherine Lancaster. In January 1934 Ed and Kitty moved their family to Halstead.
On Feb. 16, 1947 Mary Edna married Chester Levi Stubby at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead. Chet and Mary lived in Burrton before moving to Hutchinson in July 1973. They resided at Highlands Country Club until shortly before Chet’s death on Feb. 5, 1997.
Mary worked as a medical secretary in Halstead and Newton, a legal secretary at Branine and Chalfant, plant engineer’s secretary for Cessna, and a personal secretary for Kwik Shop General Office until her retirement in February 1989.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her spouse and four sisters: Frances, Elizabeth, Margaret and Dorothy.
Survivors include her wonderful friend and companion, Farris Razook, Wichita; two daughters, Teresa Ann (Allen) Short, Burrton and Mari Dian (Wesley) Young, Hutchinson; one brother, Edwin Josh (Vivian) Talbott, Halstead; four grandchildren, Michael Short, Molly Smith, Julie McMurry-Horn, Andrew McMurry; four great grandchildren, Michaela, Allison, Kylie and Kenzie.
Visitation was held at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 25.
Funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 26 at the Hutchinson Funeral Chapel and
burial followed at the Burrton City Cemetery.
