HALSTEAD – Neil Amaron Owens was born
Aug. 14, 1999 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the Indian hospital. He was of
the Wichita Indian Tribe. Neil will always be the beloved son of Jim
and Alma Owens. He was the 10th of 11 children.
The Owens family moved to Halstead in
2011. Neil was a senior at Halstead High School. He was an
accomplished cross country runner who will be remembered by runners
across the state. His friends and teammates lovingly referred to him
as "Chief." One if his favorite times to run was in the
rain!
While at Halstead High School he found
a love and talent for videography. He wanted to become a
videographer. Neil could see things from different perspectives,
giving his photography and videos depth and personality.
Neil was a young man full of depth and
personality; sadly he kept so much of it locked quietly inside.
Neil is preceded in death by a sister
Stephanie. He is survived by his parents Jim and Alma Owens, and
siblings: Michael of Italy, Texas, Timothy of Copperopolis,
California, David of Halstead, Stephen of Hesston, Antoinette of
Wichita, Angelina of Purcell, Oklahoma, Edward of OKC, Oklahoma,
Timothy of Halstead, and Ali of Halstead.
In the tapestry of our family Neil was
a vibrant thread that will continue to run throughout the fabric of
all of our lives. Watch over us Chief as we keep your memory with us
always.
Services were held on Monday, Jan. 22
at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Newton with
internment at Hesston Cemetery.
