Barbara L. Williams
Barbara L. Williams, 82, of Arkansas City, died Thursday
(May 28, 2009) at Presbyterian Manor. Barbara was born on Oct. 8, 1926, the
daughter of Paul and Mildred (Brown) Shipman. She was reared and educated in
Newton, graduating from Newton High School in 1944. She married Guy Williams on
May 5, 1946, in Newton. The couple moved to Arkansas City in 1966, where Barbara
managed the Ark City Clinic for many years. She was a longtime member of
Central Christian Church and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Arkansas City and
Newton.
Barbara loved travel, fishing and chocolate - not
necessarily in that order.
Survivors include a daughter, Pam Williams of Fountain
Hills, Ariz.; a son, Scott Williams of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother,
William Kraulik of Ferndale, Mich.; a sister, Nancy Shultz of Austin, Texas;
three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Guy in
2004; and daughter, Karen Williams in 1999.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Central
Christian Church in Arkansas City. Burial will follow in Parker Cemetery in
Arkansas City. The Rev. Steve Chambers will officiate.
A memorial has been established with Central Christian
Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
