William A. Sheffler
RURAL MOUNDRIDGE -- William A.
Sheffler, 76, died Sunday (May 18, 2003) at his residence in rural
Moundridge. He was born March 24, 1927, to William A. and Vivian B.
(Carter) Sheffler in Edinburg, Texas. They preceded him in death. He
married Ruth H. Koby Oct. 13, 1944, in rural Sedgwick. She survives.
He was a former Newton resident for 35 years. He served in the U.S.
Army and worked security for Brinks. He was a member of Pleasant
Valley Church, the American Legion of
Halstead and a past member of the
Saddle Club of Newton. He enjoyed riding horses, the country and the
outdoors.
Other survivors include: three sons,
Jerrold Sheffler of Sedgwick, Ronald Sheffler of Wichita and Michael
Sheffler of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Annette Streight of St.
Mary's Ohio; three brothers, Keith Sheffler of Peabody, Robert
Sheffler of Wichita and Melvin Sheffler of Newton; five sisters,
Vivian Smith, Betty Jane Sheffler, Lee Ann Newell and Judy Cullens,
all of Newton, and Kay Lincoln of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren;
and four great-grandchldren.
He also was preceded in death by: a
brother, Marcellus Sheffler; and four sisters, Ruby Church, Erleen
Siegel, Eileen Spangler and Phylis Botterweck.
Visitation will be from 9 a. m. to 9 p.
m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2 p. m. Friday
at Pleasant Valley Church in rural Bentley with Pastor Ken Chadbourn
officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley
Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
Harry Hynes Hospice in care of the funeral home.
