Vivian Morford
Obituary
Vivian Lois (Blankenship) Morford
passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2018, at her home in Burnet,
Texas. She was 91 years old. She was born Oct. 3, 1926, to Carmon and
Frances (Frisbie) Blankenship in Great Bend.
Vivian grew up in Great Bend and
Newton. She married Weldon D. Morford on Dec. 3, 1948, who later
became Sheriff of Harvey County - and, for a short time, she was a
Harvey County Sheriff Deputy herself. Together they had four
children: Bruce, James, Linda and David. They lived in Kansas,
Florida and Texas.
She is preceded in death by her
parents; four of her siblings; her husband, Weldon; and eldest son,
Bruce.
Survivors include her sister, Winifred
(Blankenship) Hague of Topeka; sons, James Morford and wife Faye
(Drew) of Donie, Texas, and David Morford and wife Sharon (Franz) of
Ottawa; and daughter, Linda Morford-Downey of Burnet, Texas. She
adored her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vivian served in various churches
throughout her life as a Sunday School teacher, choir director and
soloist. Her love for music has touched the lives of all who knew
her. She also taught elementary school for many years. She loved to
sew for her family and others. Other talents included water color and
oil painting, as well as playing and teaching the piano. Vivian was
an avid reader, and, in her later life, embraced technology because
she always loved to learn. Even as a 90-plus-year-old, she kept in
touch with family and friends through Facebook and emails. The world
is a better place because of her life and love.
A family internment will be at the
Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, where she will be laid to rest with her
husband. A memorial service will be held on June 2, 2018, in Newton.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish, a
donation may be made to Compassion International in her name. She
supported three of their children for the past several years, and
caring for children was dear to her heart.
